Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie skipped out on the annual Oscar Nominees Luncheon in Beverly Hills on Monday.

The two — who are both nominated for their lead acting roles — opted to stay overseas, where they have been promoting their films, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Changeling.

Despite the power couple being a no-show, there were still plenty of A-listers on hand.

Kate Winslet, who has been nominated five times but has never won an Oscar, told reporters she has learned how to give a “good losing face.”

Maddox, 7, Zahara, 4, Pax, 5, Shiloh, 2 — who walked alongside their parents — don’t mind all the globetrotting, Jolie recently said.

A week after their glamorous appearance at the Golden Globe Awards, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt returned to the red carpet Monday for the premiere of Pitt’s latest film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in Berlin, Germany.

The actress — in a white pantsuit — showed off a new updo, which was styled in a sweeping side bun.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie packed on the PDA at Thursday’s 14th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards in Santa Monica.

Though they both did not take home any awards, the two did not seem to mind. A party attendee tells Us they were “kissing and looking lovingly at each other” throughout the night.

Jolie even whispered to Pitt, “I miss you!” even though they were sitting right next to each other, the witness adds.

“At one point, Brad had his hand all the way up Angelina’s dress!” says the party attendee, adding that they kissed all night, even while chatting with other actors, including Mickey Rourke, Anne Hathaway and Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto.

During the conversation, Winfrey tells Pitt that Angelina Jolie is the love of his life. Then, she asks him if he’s the happiest he’s even been, according to

“Dare I say,” Brad replies in the interview, tentatively set to air Nov. 18.

Adoption agents are irked that Angelina Jolie dared to criticize Madonna’s adoption of her Malawi son, David, without acknowledging her own past adoption scandals, the New York Post’s Page Six reports.

Jolie, 31, recently told French magazine Gala she would “never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal.”

Yet Jolie failed to mention that when she adopted her Cambodian son, Maddox, in 2002, she used Seattle International Adoptions, run by Lauryn Galindo – who was found guilty two years later of visa fraud and money laundering related to Cambodian adoptions.

“Angelina is not a hero in the adoption community,” Tatiana Beams, a Seattle-based international adoption advocate, told Page Six. “She adopted Maddox under a questionable agency, where the directors went to prison.”

Beams said that after Jolie’s debacle, Cambodia adoption was brought to a halt, and many families who were waiting to acquire children were left empty-handed.

David Ptasnik, director of Americans Adopting Orphans, defended Angie’s choice in adoption agencies, saying, “it was the largest agency in the world. Angelina Jolie wouldn’t know that she was entering into a questionable adoption.”

However, Beams is also peeved that Jolie “does nothing, or at least very little, to keep international adoption open and legal for American families and children.”

She added, “It would be nice to see her speak out on issues and policies surrounding international adoption.”

Ben Affleck just doesn’t think Angelina Jolie has the star power necessary to be a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations.

Affleck showed his trademark humor when he joked about Jolie’s participation at the press conference for his short movie, Gimme Shelter, in NYC on Wednesday.

“UNHCR has to find a goodwill ambassador who will get the attention of the press because the woman they’ve got is not high profile enough,” Affleck said.

Jolie, who has been the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees goodwill ambassador since early 2001, has worked with field staff and met with refugees in more than 20 countries.

Like Jolie, Affleck has tried to use his star power to enlighten the public on important global causes.

“One of the things about being an actor is that I’ve had the opportunity to be exposed to really smart people,” he said. “People have been really generous. I expose myself to those people and say, ‘Help me learn about this,’ and I’ve given myself a great post-graduate experience in this arena.”

His film, a four-minute humanitarian campaign for victims of the fighting in Eastern Congo, is set to the Rolling Stone song of the same name.

In an interview with MY fm Friday, the duo — who also perform together in a group called the Ballas Hough Band — were asked their about their dream celebrity partners.

“I’ve always wanted Jennifer Aniston,” Ballas told DJ Kari Steele.

Ballas is such a huge fan, he was even psyched when she got back together with John Mayer.)

As for Hough?

“It’s not a joke…it’s, like, Angelina Jolie,” he said. “Hey, I don’t know. It would be kind of weird.”

But the guys don’t expect the actresses to strap on their dancing shoes any time soon.

“It’s not gonna’ happen!” Ballas joked.

At a Changeling press conference Monday in London, Angelina Jolie got teary eyed talking about her late mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died of cancer in 2007.

After being asked what it meant to film a movie about a strong mother so soon after Bertrand’s death, Jolie cursed and her eyes filled with tears. (Watch video, courtesy of The London Telegraph, above.)

“She was really sweet and was never angry – she couldn’t swear to save her life,” she said. “But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this is very much her, her story.

“She was the woman I related to, who had that elegance and strength through just knowing what was right,” she continued.

Jolie – who also confirmed Monday that she will replace Tom Cruise in Edwin A. Salt - also opened up her recent comments that she wants to “fade away” from acting.

“I’m not making some retirement announcement,” she said. “I have a big family and a lot of responsibility at home, and I have the good fortune to financially not have to work all the time.

“I just feel privileged that I get to be home a lot,” she said. “Maybe eventually I’ll stop [acting].”

After a reporter asked, “Can we expect more children soon?” Jolie replied, “Sure, you can!”

She added that she spent the past year “with the kids. Most of it has been spent in my pajamas coloring.”

Today in a very special bite-size edition of the People column, Angelina Jolie backs off from her previous, anti-home-wrecking position and admits she fell for Brad Pitt on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith when he was still married to that Jennifer Aniston woman:

“Not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love,” Jolie tells the New York Times, saying she wants her kids to see the flick.

The downside of living your life before the camera, however, is that it’s not so easily edited for immature audiences.

“(Son Maddox will) look up my name and see some kind of sexy pictures or read a story about himself that isn’t true,” Jolie says.

“There’s a lot we’re going to have to explain to them about how public their family is.”

No mercy for a con man

U.S. prosecutors have told a judge that actress Anne Hathaway’s former boyfriend deserves no leniency for cheating investors in a church scam.

Prosecutors submitted papers in a Manhattan court Monday saying Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri deserves more than the four years in prison he promised to serve when he pleaded guilty, the Associated Press reports.

Follieri is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday for cheating investors of millions of dollars.
