Ben Affleck just doesn’t think Angelina Jolie has the star power necessary to be a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations.

Affleck showed his trademark humor when he joked about Jolie’s participation at the press conference for his short movie, Gimme Shelter, in NYC on Wednesday.

“UNHCR has to find a goodwill ambassador who will get the attention of the press because the woman they’ve got is not high profile enough,” Affleck said.

Jolie, who has been the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees goodwill ambassador since early 2001, has worked with field staff and met with refugees in more than 20 countries.

Like Jolie, Affleck has tried to use his star power to enlighten the public on important global causes.

“One of the things about being an actor is that I’ve had the opportunity to be exposed to really smart people,” he said. “People have been really generous. I expose myself to those people and say, ‘Help me learn about this,’ and I’ve given myself a great post-graduate experience in this arena.”

His film, a four-minute humanitarian campaign for victims of the fighting in Eastern Congo, is set to the Rolling Stone song of the same name.

In an interview with MY fm Friday, the duo — who also perform together in a group called the Ballas Hough Band — were asked their about their dream celebrity partners.

“I’ve always wanted Jennifer Aniston,” Ballas told DJ Kari Steele.

Ballas is such a huge fan, he was even psyched when she got back together with John Mayer.)

As for Hough?

“It’s not a joke…it’s, like, Angelina Jolie,” he said. “Hey, I don’t know. It would be kind of weird.”

But the guys don’t expect the actresses to strap on their dancing shoes any time soon.

“It’s not gonna’ happen!” Ballas joked.

“She is an actress hampered by her gorgeous face, I think the most beautiful face on the planet.” Clint Eastwood said at the New Yorker Festival on Saturday. “People sometimes can’t see past that, to her talent. She’s on all these magazine covers so it’s easy to overlook what an amazing actress is underneath.”

Eastwood, who directed Jolie in Changeling, likened the star’s work ethic to that of Meryl Streep.

“Actors know with me they aren’t going to be allowed to rehearse a scene for a couple of hours and then get away with doing 25 takes before we get it right, so they come with their full bag of tricks,” Eastwood said. “Angelina is a lot like Meryl Streep in that respect.”

Jolie plays a mother, who 9-year-old son is kidnapped in Eastwood’s 1920s-based drama.

He added: “Angelina had studied this part a great deal before, she had read the news clippings, and she made suggestions during the process.”

Jolie is set to make her first red carpet appearance since welcoming twins Knox and Vivienne at Saturday’s premiere. (The premiere also marks the first time the actress has been in the United States since giving birth.)

The movie debuted to critical acclaim at this year’s Cannes Film Festival — with many predicting Jolie will land another Oscar nomination.

Changeling opens in limited release October 24.
